Underwater Pictures Site

As you all know I have put together a collection of underwater pictures.  These underwater pictures will be a piece of history. The “life below sea level” is diminishing slowly.

Pictures taken at CoCo View Resort 2011

We have have farms and slaughter cattle, chickens, turkeys and you name it, for the food we produce above sea level. But the underwater world is slowly decreasing.

We take from the ocean and do not give back. We have no problem dumping our trash in the oceans. And what it really comes down to, is that some day it will become a vast underwater desert. Sand with now growth on the bottom. No fish, seals, sea lions, sharks, whales, nothing but water.

If this guy is still around. His friends at the cleaning station may not.Cleaning Station Why? The coral reefs that were once thriving with life, and growing are now dying.

There is more than just fish dying. This Elkhorn coral below has died. But the Seafan is trying to survive. You can see more of these pictures. And put a piece of, soon to be history into your home. www.Underwaterpicturesforsale.com

Bonaire

by on Sep.16, 2012, under Bonaire

My bags packed with my travel documents in my hand, it is off to
the hotel. One of thoes early morning flights out of Dullas that
are best attacked by staying at a hotel the night before.

Up before the sun rises and headed to the airport, it looks like a
another rainy day in Virginia. Glad I am headed south. While at the
airport I ran into some friends that were headed my way. That is,
headed to Bonaire for a week of diving.

After one plane change over, and meeting a few more folks from our
diving group we finally made to Bonaire. From the air your could
see the nice blue water. After the plane landed we grabbed up our
bags and loaded onto the resort bus that was waiting on us.

We arrived at Divi Flamingo and received our room assignments. That
afternoon our group met at the resort dive center for our
orientation breefing.

The week was filled with diving, eating, little sunning and
sleeping. The diving started after our breakfast at the hotel. Two
tank boat dive, then a quicklunch and a one tank bout dive. That
could be followed by a shore dive off the dock. I will have to say
there was plenty of fish. The visibilty was good and there was a
lot other life to see besides fish. And the whole perpose of the
trip was for diving and taking pictures. And did I ever take
pictures. At least a few hundred a day. One of these days I will
find some good ones to display.

There are two restaurants on the resort. (Chibi Chibi Restaurant
and Calabas Restaurant) We always met for breakfast and coffee at
the resort dining area, ate our own lunch and went out for dinner.
Except for a couple dinners we ate at the resort. Mexican night
and the free spagetti dinner. (For our Dive Group) And I will say,
thay put on a great meal. Lots to choose from and cooked by the
cheff your way if you choose to go that route. Then there was the
local restaurants just down the road.

The resort has two pools. After the morning dives and the
afternoon dives I would hang out at the pool next to my room.
Fresh water and some sun. Well by Thursday I was hanging out in
the shade and wearing a hat.

The manager of the resort was alway out interacting with the

resort member. Would I go back to the resort? Yes.

The DC-3 plane fuselage. CoCo View Resort

by on Mar.11, 2012, under CoCo View resort, National Holladays

The DC-3 plane fuselage.

Visibilty better than the last 4 years made for a great picture opportunity of the DC-3 plane of the coast of Honduras. Well that is in the back yard of the CoCo View resort.  Just off the back side of the Prince Albert.

The dive begins at your assigned locker. The dive team members meet at the give time. After a quick equipment check is done, divers suite up and take the short path to the shore line. Yes this is the shore dive.

The water is calm and clear, temps are perfect and you could not be with better company. Even though 90% of the group has been labeled as CoCo Nuts. At the platform the second equipment check is done, bouyency is checked and you are paired up with your dive partner. And it always goes something like this. New diver with experienced diver. But we all look out for each other.

The begining of the dive is through the shallows. Through the seagrass area we follow the sandy path down to the safety stop marker. This is where the ocean opens up. Between you and the DC-3 airplane wreckage lays the ship “Prince Albert”. But that is another story.

This dive is much different than the other 100 plus dives I did here at CoCo View Resort. On this dive the visibility was awesome in the channel. I could actually see the Prince Albert. But was headed around the Prince Albert ship to the DC-3 wreckage. Upon my arrival I was amazed at how clear it was. So I pulled out the Cannon G-11 (Tim said it was a great camera.) and shot a few pictures. Here they are…

Underwater Pictures For Sale

The purple spong

The underwater pictures for sale web site was launched a little over a month ago. It really seams to me, that no one is interested in “Life Below Sea Level”.  This assortment of pictures has several species of corals and sponges that do LIVE below sea level. I have just recently started to ad fish.

This collection was put together to share with others what I have personally see with my own two eyes. A life in the underwater animal kingdom. A life trying to grow and survive. A life that may be there today, but gone tomorrow. A life underwater that is disrupted by weather changes, just like on land.

You can see from these pictures how scattered life is below sea level.

Please visit www.UnderWaterPicturesForSale.com and take home a piece of life is is slowly dying away.

CoCo View 2010 vacation

by on Mar.28, 2010, under CoCo View resort

Caribbean Reef Shark

2010 dive trip was great. While Virginia was recovering from the big snow storm, I sat back and relaxed in the sun. Well that is not exactly true.

The days were full of diving. Four dives a day with some nice hot meals in between.

We did get hit with a nice storm one night that played havoc on the Island Internet service not to mention the electric. But the resort has always ensured that the electric was up and running by using their backup generators.

I did take a quick photography course with Tim. The how to, and how not to with my new camera.  Canon G11. Macro is great topside, I do not recommend it underwater unless you are using a good flash. All my macro shots where blurry due to the shutter speed really slowing down in the macro mode.

The highlight of the trip was the shark Dive. And I only took 600 plus pictures in the 47 min dive. Yes continuous mode. That was Worth the money. Now if I can just sell my pictures and get some of that money back.

CoCo View Resort

by on Feb.13, 2010, under CoCo View resort, SCUBA Diving, William B Tomanek Travels

I am heading back to Roatan in 7 days. This is a yearly event that I have had the honor of participating in for the past few years.

CoCo View Resort is located on an island off the island of Roatan. The atmosphere is so relaxing affter a day of diving you never want it to end.

A typical day for a SCUBA diver at CoCo View. Well lets just say, my day. I am up very early in the morning. Slap on some shorts, shirt and footwear and head to the dining area with my laptop. I am usually there before the cooking staff arrive. I get on the internet and check the weather and my email. By then someone arrives and starts up the coffee maker. Nothing like having the first cup of brew in the morning. Slowly more guest will trickle in an suck down that first pot.

Once breakfast has been devoured it is time to get your self dressed for the day’s first dive. I am now using a 5mm compared to my first 100 dives in a 3mm. I do like the 3mm better. It was less restrictive.

Each group is assigned a boat, driver, and dive master for the weeks stay. So there is no confusion of where do I go today.

Once everyone is on the boat and ready to depart, the dive master will give you the briefing of where we will be diving for the morning trip. Each boat departure consists of two dives. First is a deep dive at one of the many dive spots and the second is a drop off dive out in front of the resort.

Upon completion of the morning dives it is time to cleanup, dry off in get ready for lunch. After lunch it is back to the boats and out for two more dives. How long is each dive, well that is up to you. The boat leaves when everyone is safely back on board. It is NOT one of those dives where they say “we will be down for 45 min and back on the boat” Your air, your partner’s air and mind decide when it is time to end the dive. No one tells you lets go, dive over. You enjoy the dive stress free.

Then there is the dinner meal. And to this point I have not mentioned how good the meals are. Do not come here with the intention of loosing weight. The food assortment is so GOOD. Well let’s just say, you want to try it all.

After the big meal it is relaxing time. That is if you are not planning to do a night dive. Yes a night dive. FUN, FUN, FUN… These are group dives or just a dive with your partner and are done at your leisure. You decide when to go out, you decide when to come back.

These are controlled by a tracking system using a signup sheet, diver tags and a marking strobe. When the fist diver goes out the strobe is placed on a down line. All divers out will place their tags on the down line. When they return from the dive, the divers pick up the tags and return them to the shack. Last diver in brings the strobe light.

Now it is cleanup, dry off and relax time. Or in some cases “Bed Time”. The dining area also has a bar, pool table and assortment of games you can play. Up stairs you will find a big screen TV and a library of books to keep you entertained.

So we are looking at four dives a day, or five if you have the stamina. Every day there are venders on the Island to show you what they have to offer. You do not have time to hit the main land if you are up to four dives a day. So the venders bring their crafts to you.

During the week if you do want to hit the mainland of Roatan, there are sever day trips planned. Shopping, Iguana Farm, dolphin dive and other attractions.

Overall it is a nice, friendly resort to dive at. Great food! Great staff! Great support personnel!

Not to mention you can see a lot of sea life. www.TomanekCollection.com

Vacation #2, 2009

by on Jun.13, 2009, under Vacations

Vacation is looking a lot like Europe. May have to sell one car to pay for my airplane ticket. But I need a break, blue water and sunny skies. And I do not see that here.

It is nice to have friends over seas.

The question is, Am I going diving or site seeing? Germany, France, UK, or Spain?

That is the question…
